Disabled British Open Golf Championships
The DEO is a fully inclusive national golfing event open to any golfer with a disability. It is bringing together several National Governing Bodies of golf all working together to deliver a high quality event that will grow from year one. It is the first of its kind in the country.
The inaugural Disabled British Open will take place at Old Thorns Golf & Country Estate on August 24th & 25th 2009.
Part of the Accentuate programme, the Open will bring together disabled golfers of all levels and disabilities to compete in a two day tournament within three handicap categories.
Supported by a comprehensive marketing and public relations campaign, and enjoying dedicated TV coverage from Sky Sports, it is hoped the event will provide disabled golfers with a first class annual tournament and assist in raising the profile of golf for people with disabilities.
