Hotel Futures Studies

....Stimulating Hotel Development

Hotel BedroomTSE in collaboration with Hotel Solutions have been working since 2001 to deliver a programme of Hotel Futures Studies to assist Local Authority partners and inward investment agencies to identify where gaps in hotel supply exist relative to demand, with a view to stimulating inward investment.

The research identifies realistic, commercially viable development opportunities and they have highlighted a vast range of site opportunities with supporting performance and trend data for potential investors and developers to make quick and informed decisions.

TSE has developed a dedicated hotel investment website to disseminate the research findings and promote investment opportunities. To find out more about this programme of work, studies which have taken place or for current hotel site opportunities in the region please visit.

Developing Local Policy - Guidance for Local Authorities

In addition to the Hotel Futures Studies, TSE is also involved in developing local authority guidance for attracting inward investment, focusing on the hotel sector. The guidance has been endorsed by the South East England Regional Assembly (SEERA) and was put forward for inclusion in the Tourism Good Practice planning guidance.

TSE has produced guidance for local authorities who are faced with pressure on their tourist accommodation stock from the increasing demands of the housing market. 'Here to Stay?' - Tourist Accommodation Retention and Loss' pulls together best practice from across the region.

As an addendum to 'Here to Stay' TSE has produced guidance on assessing change of use planning applications for small country hotels for local planning authorities that have policies in place for the retention of tourist accommodation in their area.
