The tables below detail the latest occupancy trends for the South East Region from STR Global and the TSE regional serviced and non-serviced occupancy surveys.


                        

Hotel Benchmarking Data from STR Global

STR Global are the leaders in providing market data to the worldwide hotel industry, tracking data from more than 38,000 hotels in over 1,300 markets. The performance data provided by STR Global includes room occupancy and revenue per available room (RevPAR).

                               

The latest figures from STR Global show that occupancy levels and RevPAR among the region’s hotels are showing signs of recovery in the new year.

As shown in the table below, average room occupancy in January 2010 stood at 53.3%, 1.6% higher than the same month in 2009. Although average room rate the average daily rate dropped by 1.9% to £70.01, RevPAR saw an increase of 1.0% to £37.28.

TSE Regional Serviced Occupancy Survey

 

The regional occupancy survey is drawn from the VisitEngland England Occupancy Survey and topped up by TSE's own survey. A constant sample of 300 serviced accommodation businesses currently provide results on a monthly basis.


The table below shows the average monthly room and bedspace occupancy for the South East Region for 2009.

In 2007 a new method of calculating serviced occupancy rates was introduced combining all sub-regions in the South East together as one. Unfortunately the results cannot be directly compared to previous results as Dorset is no longer considered part of the South East and is therefore not included in the figures from 2007 onwards.
