The England Attractions Monitor, is an online panel that is conducted every quarter by VisitEngland to help provide the attractions industry with rapid feedback on current trends in visits to attractions throughout England and at a regional level.


                               

Latest England Attractions Monitor


Quarter 4 2009 of the VisitEngland Attractions Monitor is now available covering October to December 2009.

The latest Monitor shows that visitor attractions in the South East reported an overall increase of 6.6% in admission levels compared to the same period in 2008. 

Looking ahead to 2010, business confidence has also seen a considerable boost compared with the snapshot taken 12 months ago. Thirty per cent of participating attractions are now more optimistic about the first quarter of 2010 compared with only 7% that were more optimistic about the first quarter of 2009. Consequently, only 23% of attractions are less optimistic about the first three months of 2010 compared to almost three quarters (73%) of attractions that were less optimistic about the first three months of 2009.

Annual Visitor Attractions Report 2008:

                             
Every year a self completion survey is sent out to attractions across England inquring about changes in visitor numbers.

According to the latest annual report, visitor numbers to attractions in the South East showed no growth in 2008 and remained at the same level as 2007, although gross revenues did increase by 2%.

Of the 329 attractions that participated in the survey Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Hampshire was the most visited free attraction with 320,144 visits. Canterbury Cathedral was once again the most visited paid attraction in the South East attracting just over one million visitors.
