Searching for secrets of the South East to attract tourists!

Secret stories that shed a new light on the many varied attractions and destinations within South East England are being sought for a new tourism marketing campaign.

Local people across the region who provide the best stories could win great tourism prizes.

The Secret South East campaign, run by Tourism South East, aims to give visitors yet more reasons to visit South East England, providing new ideas for enjoying and exploring the region.

Share your knowledge of historical events, including rarely told tales and unusual facts and figures about where you live.

Your secrets will be shared with millions of potential visitors to the South East through a special section on the website and through our year-round marketing and PR campaigns.

The four best secret stories will be rewarded with a choice of prizes including:

  • one-day pass for two people with champagne and cream tea at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire
  • VIP Tour with a Ranger for up to four people at Woburn Safari Park in Bedfordshire
  • one night stay with breakfast for two people at the four star Runnymede Hotel & Spa in Egham, near Windsor

Tourism South East's Head of Marketing Karen Roebuck said: "Tourism contributes more than £10 billion to the South East's economy every year, through domestic and overseas 'day visitors' and those staying overnight. This campaign will highlight great new reasons for visiting the region.

"We hope that people will get behind the campaign by sharing fascinating facts and hidden stories about where they live to help attract more visitors and boost the local economy. Stories may be well known locally, but we're planning to spread them to a wider audience."

Secret stories can be emailed to: secrets@tourismse.com along with your name and contact details.

They can also be posted via the website: www.visitsoutheastengland.com/secretsoutheast

The best four secrets will be selected by a panel of tourism experts. All entries must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 20 April 2007. Standard competition rules apply.
