September 15, 2005: Tourism South East (TSE) members of all sizes are being offered over £500 worth of ground-breaking tourism software technology for just £100.
Speaking at the organisation's annual general meeting at the Hampshire Centrecourt Hotel, Basingstoke, today (Thursday), TSE managing director Bob Collier told members and industry partners that the technology - called EVIIVOfrontdesk - "is a substantial piece of software and an extremely rich business tool. It is designed to help members reach new markets and generate more business, as well as helping them run their business more efficiently."
Mr. Collier added that the technology, combined with installation and e-commerce transaction capability, normally retails at over £500 - but will be sold to members for just £100 until March 2006 when the offer will be reduced to a 50% discount. TSE has arranged with EVIIVO that up to 3000 pieces of software will be available to members.
EVIIVOfrontdesk provides users with a 'web in a box' giving them instant Internet presence. According to Visit Britain, 50% of all travel bookings are now researched using the web and TSE says that "many tourism businesses are missing out simply because they do not use the technology today's demanding travellers expect when making bookings. This new product makes this possible for even the smallest tourism business."
EVIIVOfrontdesk is suitable for most TSE members, particularly those offering accommodation, visitor attractions or special events. As well as helping members grow their business profitably, it also exploits on-line enquiries and sales without losing control of inventory, pricing or customers.
"TSE members will be the first in the UK to have access to EVIIVOfrontdesk, following successful trials by Australia's tourism industry," said Mr. Collier. "Non members will be able to purchase the software directly from EVIIVO at normal prices."
He added: "Increasing numbers of TSE members are turning to new technology to sell services and products to visitors. But many businesses have still to embrace new technology and this offer is designed to encourage them to catch up with the marketplace, invest in IT and use this product to compete with the industry's biggest and best."
The software allows TSE members to create their own e-commerce enabled websites or add "book now" buttons to existing sites. It provides access to new sales channels based on members' target audiences and receive monies owed within five days of bookings taking place, subject to commission levels from distributors that members have chosen to deal with. The system also helps users create guest portfolios, keep track of business expenses, produce customer newsletters and learn about new revenue opportunities.
TSE will be running free EVIIVOfrontdesk seminars across the south-east throughout the autumn and winter for members signing up for the software.
"EVIIVOfrontdesk is the latest in a growing number of membership benefits available to TSE members, all of which are designed to help south-east based tourism companies save money, get up-to-date and accelerate the growth of their business," said Mr. Collier.
The theme of a special conference staged by TSE at its AGM this year was "Get the e-biz Buzz" at which members heard top speakers give first-hand, simple, practical, jargon-free advice and tips about using new technology to advance their business. The conference was designed to give members some effective ideas on how uncomplicated it can be to profit significantly from increased business via the Internet.
